Aw, the ocean was surprisingly salty for this little kid.
I guess I classified this as "spontaneous portrait" not because I meant to take a picture of a little girl, but because I went to the beach for the purpose of people-pictures. She just happened to be there and cute.
EDIT: up-ed the contrast and cropped it. Thanks for the comments, I think it looks much better now. Please continue critiquing.
EDIT II: re-scanned it and redid the contrast and cropping and also added that border. I just couldn't stand the horrible resolution any longer, I hope this version is more satisfying. *full view, please
this is indeed a wonderful shot, but i think there should be a bit more contrast between your lights and darks. the girl blends into the sand a little too much, and the ocean into the sky as well. if you use psp, perhaps the shadows/midtones/highlights tool could help?
ah, yes, I see what you mean. I agree it would be better without the *gaping* negative space... I'll definately keep that in mind, thanks for the comment.
unfortunately I have not the wonders of psp. Although I do have another demo version, so thanks for the comment (a lot) and I'll see what I can do on my program.
Wow, this one looks awesome Em! I would say something else, but I know NOTHING about photography. Nooootthhiiiinnnggggg. I know how to work a disposable camera.

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Maybe you could try hardening some of the hues, as aresniccc said, or make the sky a bit more harch, in the sense to take away from the space it is.
